The Hollon LC53J is a new UL rated 1 hour fireproof home safe from Hollon.  It makes an excellent safe for home use at a very reasonable price.  It’s great for important papers and small vauluables.  The LC-53J gets its UL rating from its true composite construction — the safe has an outer solid steel layer, an inner solid steel layer, and in between is a layer of concrete like fireproofing material.  The 1 hour UL rating is measured to a higher standard than other ratings.  The LC-53J has been tested to withstand an 1850 degree F fire for a period of 1 hour, without the internal temperauture of the safe rising above 350 degrees F.  This temperature is low enough to ensure that your papers and small valuables do not suffer any permanent damage in the event of a fire.

Outside dimensions for the LC-53J are 20-7/8″ x 18-1/8″ x 18-1/8″.  Inside dimensions are 15-3/8″ x 12″ x 12-3/8″.  The safe has a capacity of 1.35 cubic feet and weighs 157 pounds.  The LC-53J uses seamless construction throughout — both layers of the body and the door are seamless.  This helps to improve the appearance of the safe as well as eliminates the weak spots associated with safes that have welded seams.  The LC-53J uses a secure combination dial lock and 4 active round locking bolts.  It comes with 1 pull-out storage drawer (shelf) and 1 adjustable/removable shelf.  It has 1 anchor bolt hole drilled into the bottom of the safe, and comes complete with mounting hardware.  All in all, the LC-53J makes an excellent choice in a smaller UL rated fireproof home safe.  For more information about the LC-53J, and details on where to buy, see the following link: Hollon LC-53J Fireproof Home Safe.
