The Hollon HS-510E is a new UL rated 1 hour fireproof home safe from Hollon.  A smaller safe, it measures 19″ x 13-1/2″ x 15-3/4″ on the outside, 14″ x 8-1/2″ x 11-4/5″ on the inside, and weighs 121 pounds.  It has a capacity of 0.83 cubic feet.  The safe is manufactured using true composite construction — there’s an outer solid steel layer, a layer of concrete-like fireproofing material, and a solid steel inner layer.  This composite consruction allows the safe to pass the UL 1 hour fireproof rating, which is a much tougher standard than other ratings often used by manufacturers.  The UL 1 hour fireproof rating test requires that the safe be subjected to an 1850 degree F fire for a period of 1 hour.  By contrast, the average wooden house fire is only 950 degrees F.  During the test, the temperature inside the safe is measured, and cannot rise above 350 degrees F.  This temperature is safe for papers and other small valuables.

Other features of the HS-510E include an electronic keypad locking mechanism, which can be programmed with access codes from 3-8 digits.  The keypad can be programmed to accept one master access code and one user access code.  The electronic keypad is powered by 4-AA batteries.  The HS-510E also features fully seamless construction, which eliminates the weak welded seams associated with safes built using seams.  The safe has 2 active locking bolts on the opening side, and 2 fixed bolts on the hinge side.  There is an anchor bolt hole drilled into the bottom of the safe, and it comes complete with mounting hardware.  There’s one removable shelf inside the safe.  All in all, the HS-510E is an excellent value in a small safe.  For more information about the Hollon HS-510E, see the following link:  Hollon HS-510E 1 hour fireproof home safe.
